Catcher #3

I have just been continually reading this afternoon and I find more and more things that I don't like about Holden. He's a continuous smoker that tries to be something that he's not. He has all these opinions of everyone and he thinks a lot of people are pretty much pathetic. Yet, he's pretty much the pathetic one because he's the one who is hanging out with his kid sister and treating her like she's like adult. He like legit talks to her like she is his age or something. This is another thing that annoys me about Holden because he's like so into his little tiny sister and yet she's just a kid. Phoebe is one of my favorite characters although because she's like totally original and I know i am not wrong this time because she really has a personality and cares for her brother.

Catcher #2

Alright, I know have to come back and admit this. The book, although very intriguing at first, has issues. I now have changed my opinion. It's a good book and all but it's just completely overrated. It has no climax and Haulden just like to get drunk and pretend like he's a lot older than he is. He also has this whatever attitude towards school. He doesn't care that he is going to wind up going no where in life. He doesn't care at all that he keeps flunking school and his dad is going to rip him a new one. I thought this book was like amazing to start with and that Haulden was such an original character but I now realize he's the big phony. He's the phony walking around, not everyone and everything else that he sees.

Catcher in the Rye part One

It's probably best that I start this off and say that Catcher in the Rye is an amazing book. Holden Caulfield is an amazing character. He is one character that you don't have to figure out, he's not really mysterious, whatever he is saying or feeling- he just comes right out and says it. He doesn't make the reader have to figure out what he is thinking. He is so strait up, I admire his personality and his courage. In my opinion, Holden has his own opinions formed about everyone like Ackley and Stradlater. What tells me that he has a deep sense of thought and he's not just another guy is the composition he wrote for Stradlater about the glove. This meant a lot to me because he was so passionate about this glove and the person who wore it-Allie and wrote poems all over it. Allie seems to have had a lot of influence on Holden because of his death but also because of his intelligence and his kind nature. This book is really awesome, one of the best books I have read in school. While I was reading this book, I read 80 pages in one day because I just couldn't put the book down. These are the kind-of books that make reading worthwhile especially if they are part of the school curriculum.
